Inside Sofia Vergara’s $180 million fortune – which she did not earn just from acting

Sofia Vergara is among the richest actresses on television, but surprisingly did not earn most of her fortune by starring in one of the most successful sitcoms ever. 
The Colombian actress first became a household name when she played Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on Modern Family where she reportedly made around $500,000 per episode during the show’s peak. 
In 2020, Sofia likely made around nine million dollars for the show’s final season and she likely made roughly $11 million for seasons seven through ten. 
However, Sofia’s net worth in 2024 is estimated to be over 180 million dollars, and the secret to her success appears to be her brand endorsements. Thje 51-year-old has secured many celebrity brand deals, including her own jewelry line, a shoe line, a lingerie line as well as two clothing lines for Kmart and Walmart.

According to Forbes, Sofia’s strengths as a businesswoman are what helped her earn her fortune, as it is estimated around 60 percent of her wealth comes from her endorsements and licensing deals.
Luis Balaguer, Vergara’s manager and business partner for over 20 years, said that when Sofia first began her acting career the jobs were not frequent enough to earn a steady income, and so she looked for other ways to make money. 
In an interview with Forbes, Luis said: “Acting was what she loved, but she knew she wasn’t going to make money on it, so her entrepreneurialism kicked in.”
The Hot Pursuit actress has worked with major brands and is likely best known for her success with the coffee machine brand Ninja through their coffee bar commercials, but has also worked with Quaker Oats, Head and Shoulders hair products, McDonald’s, Comcast, and other brands as well. However, Sofia is also very careful with what businesses she chooses to partner with and usually is paid not just a royalty fee but also a percentage of revenue sales.

The mother-of-one recently separated from her husband of eight years Joe Manganiello, and the Magic Mike actor is believed to have an estimated net worth of $40 million. 
However, she did not lose any of her money during the separation as the couple has a tight prenup to protect their multi-million dollar fortunes. 
In an interview with Howard Stern in 2015, Sofia said Joe had no issue signing a prenuptial agreement. She explained: “He said, ‘Do whatever you want. I’ll sign whatever you want.’” 
As for her television career, Sofia currently stars in the new Netflix drama Griselda, where she plays real-life Colombian drug lord, Griselda Blanco. The series explores how she earned her place in the criminal underworld. 
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Sofia said she is excited to be playing the complex role of the mother-turned-kingpin. 
She said: “There are so many nuances to explore in terms of who she was as a drug lord and, of course, as a woman, as a mother. She was someone who did whatever it took to protect her family.”
